About Me
Born in Venezuela and raised in a home where classic Rock, Pop, and Latin music was a lived reality, my childhood was soundtracked by the timeless rhythms of the ’70s and ’80s. Heavily influenced by my grandfather and uncles, all talented musicians this vibrant musical environment sparked my lifelong appreciation for various music genres.
Roots & Rhythms
My grandparents had a huge, Technics system that included a turntable, a mixer, a cassette player, and massive speakers. That turntable was always spinning our family’s eclectic vinyl collection, seamlessly blending the timeless Latin rhythms of the Fania All Stars, Rubén Blades, and Dimensión Latina right alongside Michael Jackson, Van Halen, Queen, Led Zeppelin, and Kiss. As a kid, I thought Kiss were just a bunch of insane clowns, haha! It was around that same massive stereo system that I first heard the wild stories, translated into Spanish, about the hidden meanings behind the lyrics of Bohemian Rhapsody and Stairway to Heaven.
Everything escalated when a schoolmate gifted me a new rock CD. I got my first discman and started playing songs with a Yamaha DD11 electronic drum kit. Rock became my obsession.
Later on, I was given a Panasonic RX-5350 that featured several inputs and a built-in equalizer and many buttons. I used it to record cassettes straight from my Discman, borrowing CDs from friends to build my own collection until I replaced my Macintosh for a PC and started my CD collection.
In high school, I joined the orchestra as a bass drum player and quickly connected with friends who shared my passion for rock. We formed my first band; I was the drummer, and we performed at several local venues. Eventually, one of my friends gifted me an acoustic guitar.
I taught myself to play initially, but I wanted to improve my skills. I enrolled in formal music lessons to study drums, guitar, and music theory. My professor opened my eyes further, introducing me to the sophisticated worlds of jazz, bossa nova, funk and other genres. I learned to play bass and electric guitar, with each new instrument expanding my musical vocabulary.
In 2008, life took me to university to study mass communications, and after graduation, I moved to Miami in 2014. For a while, music took a back seat as I pursued a career in Audiovisual Arts and Media management, though in the meantime, I kept learning keyboards and practicing drums at Music Turista Studios.
I eventually established myself as a Hotel Marketing Manager, but the pandemic changed everything. Locked down, unable to travel, and feeling disconnected, I made a decision that brought me back to myself: I bought my first Pioneer DJ controller and started exploring House Music.
Soon after, I started performing at the Marco Polo Beach Resort Hotel on weekends. That residency gave me the experience and confidence to play at other properties I managed, including the Bentley Hotel South Beach and the Park Central Hotel South Beach, as well as local bars. That controller reignited something I thought I’d lost, the pure joy of creating and sharing music, connecting with people, and making them happy on the dance floor.
